ABSTRACT Periodic calculation of coastal bathymetries can show the evolution of geomorphological features in active areas such as mesotidal estuary mouths. Bathymetries in shallow coastal areas have been addressed mainly by two technologies, lidar and optical remote sensing. Lidar provides good accuracy, but is an expensive technique, requiring planned flights for each region and dates of interest. Optical remote sensing acquires images periodically but its results are limited by water turbidity. Here we use a lidar bathymetry to compare different bathymetry computation methods using a SPOT optical image from a nearby date. Three statistical models green-band, PCA correlations, and GLM were applied to obtain mathematical expressions to estimate bathymetry from that image: all gave errors lower than 1 m in an area with depths ranging from 0 to 6 m. These algorithms were then applied to images from three different dates, correcting the effects caused by different tidal and atmospheric conditions. We show how this allows the study of morphological changes. We discuss the accuracy obtained with respect to the reference bathymetry 0.9 m on average, but less than 0.5 m in low-turbidity areas, the effects of the turbidity on our estimations, and compare both with previously published results. The results show that this approach is effective and allows identification of known features of coastal dynamics, and thus it would be an important step towards short-term bathymetry monitoring based on optical satellite remote sensing.

Se describe el diseño, desarrollo y explotación de una herramienta SIG para diferentes aspectos vinculados a la gestión del comercio en la ciudad de Sevilla (SIGCOMSE). El proyecto se enmarca en un convenio de colaboración entre la Cámara de Comercio, Industria y Navegación de Sevilla y el Departamento de Geografía Física y Análisis Geográfico Regional de la Universidad de Sevilla. Las principales fases en la elaboración del proyecto son: (i) geocodificación de las entidades comerciales (ii) creación o adaptación de las bases geográficas a utilizar en la fase de análisis (redes, bases geoestadísticas, etc.) y (iii) desarrollo de herramientas para la realización de análisis de geomarketing.

Conocer la ubicación del punto que posee la mayor cuenca visual sobre un área suele requerir la elección de una serie de localizaciones candidatas y el cálculo de su visibilidad. Si se contempla la posibilidad de considerar conjuntos de puntos candidatos y maximizar la superficie visible minimizando su número, la labor tiene un elevado coste de tiempo. En este artículo se presenta una metodología para afrontar estas cuestiones de una forma simplificada, basada en el programa ArcGis, y aplicada a las torres de vigilancia de incendios de la comarca de Albarracín (Teruel, España). La discretización de la superficie topográfica representada por un MDE a partir de la elección de puntos de alta visibilidad y puntos a observar, la generación de líneas de intervisibilidad positiva que los conecten, y su integración en un modelo de redes, permite la aplicación de métodos de localización y asignación óptima; como resultado, es posible conocer la ubicación de los puntos de mayor visibilidad combinada

The identification of key-models for the territorial distribution of Spanish agroforestry systems would be a useful reference for natural areas planning and management at a regional level. For that purpose, a biogeographical description is conducted in an agroforestry farm within the Dehesas de Sierra Morena Biosphere Reserve. As part of the biogeographical description the applicability of the Inventory of Phanerophytes and Chamaephytes Transects Methodology is tested. By implementing this methodology it will be possible to objectively define key-formations operating in a wider geobotanic context such as the Reserve.
